Ativistas Brasileiros Deportados por Israel Retornam ao Brasil

Thirteen Brazilian activists who participated in the Global Sumud flotilla and were deported by Israel are expected to return to Brazil on Thursday (9/10). The information was confirmed by family members of the activists.

Vaquinha Para o Retorno

After arriving in Jordan on Tuesday (7/10), the group initiated a crowdfunding campaign to cover their return flights. According to family members, “all alternatives for the activists’ return involve everyone coming back to the country together.”

Iniciativa Privada Após Falta de Apoio Governamental

The group issued a statement indicating that the Brazilian government has not offered to pay for their return tickets. “The Brazilian government has not proposed to cover the participants’ passage; therefore, the Brazilian organization decided to request donations from supporters to contribute to their return,” the statement explained.

Lista dos Ativistas Liberados

Among those released by Israel from Ktzi’ot Prison are the following activists: Thiago Ávila, Bruno Gilga, Lisiane Proença, Magno Costa, councilwoman Mariana Conti (Psol-SP), Ariadne Telles, Mansur Peixoto, Gabriele Tolotti, Mohamad El Kadri, Lucas Gusmão, deputy Luizianne Lins (PT-CE), João Aguiar, and Miguel Castro.

Apoio da Embaixada Brasileira

Family members have reported that the group received a warm welcome in Amman, the capital of Jordan. “It is important to acknowledge the excellent reception by the Brazilian embassy in Amman. Ambassador Marcio Fagundes do Nascimento and his entire team welcomed everyone wonderfully,” stated a source who preferred to remain anonymous.

According to the family member, despite the challenging circumstances, all activists are in good health.

Posicionamento do Itamaraty

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) stated that “Brazil calls on the international community to demand that Israel cease the blockade on Gaza, as it constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law.”

Interceptação da Flotilha

The group was captured in international waters during a mission aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, according to a statement from the organizers. The Global Sumud flotilla, made up of over 40 ships and 420 activists from various nationalities, was a peaceful initiative intended to provide humanitarian support to the Gaza Strip.

The Brazilian delegation was transported from Ktzi’ot Prison in the Negev Desert to the border by Israeli authorities. Upon their arrival in Jordan, they met with diplomats from the Brazilian embassy in Tel Aviv.

In Jordan, the activists are receiving support from the Brazilian embassy in Amman, having undergone medical evaluations and received consular assistance.
